Job Description:

Marks Consulting Partners are seeking a Temporary Accommodation Management Officer to join our client's team in the Sussex region. This role is a full-time temporary position, initially running until the end of the calendar year, with the potential for extension.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing temporary accommodation services, ensuring clients are housed in safe, secure, and well-maintained properties. You will liaise closely with service users, property owners, and internal departments to ensure the smooth operation of the temporary housing service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage a portfolio of temporary accommodation units, ensuring properties are in good condition and meet health and safety standards.
  • Conduct regular property inspections and respond promptly to any maintenance or repair issues.
  • Liaise with landlords, contractors, and housing providers to coordinate accommodation placements and address property management needs.
  • Act as a key point of contact for service users, providing advice, support, and resolving housing-related issues as they arise.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant housing legislation and local authority policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of accommodation placements, tenant information, and property conditions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support service delivery and ensure smooth coordination between departments.
  • Prepare reports and updates for senior management on property performance, issues, and any arising concerns.

Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience in housing or property management, ideally within a local authority or temporary accommodation setting.
  • Strong knowledge of housing legislation, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups, including vulnerable service users.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively manage a varied workload.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a car is essential, as travel between properties within the Sussex region is required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
