Engage Education are currently working in partnership with a local SEND charity on an exciting new & permanent SEND Service Lead position specifically to support children and young adults with SEND needs in the Haywards Heath area.
Reporting to the Head of Services and part of the management team, the Services Leads are responsible for ensuring clubs and activities for this cohort, deliver the best possible outcomes for members and their families, and comply with appropriate legislation and policy (Safeguarding, Health & Safety, GDPR, etc).
This role will have direct responsibility for being physically present to lead certain clubs and activities, and will oversee the running of other clubs and activities through line management of contracted and sessional Delivery Managers.
For this role, we are looking for someone with experience supporting those with SEND needs, as well as some form of management experience.
This is a full-time position (35 hours per week), with specific service sessions planned into the week and the remaining hours flexibly worked. The ideal candidate will need to be able to be self-sufficient in managing both their workload and hours worked, whilst accommodating other Service Leads and users. There will also be some evening and alternate weekend shifts.

Person Specification:
Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Substantial experience of working with young people/adults with complex behavioural needs, including autism, people with severe and profound/multiple learning difficulties, disabilities, communication issues and behavioural challenges.

Ability to develop enabling environments that support engagement, learning, and social interaction.

Proven experience in leading and motivating a team, including developing team members and addressing people management issues.

Thorough knowledge and demonstrable use of a range of communication tools within a SEND setting.

Relevant experience and understanding of young people\adult’s development and learning with SEND
-
Relevant experience and knowledge about the provision of inclusive practice and a commitment to providing this for all within an equal opportunities framework.

Relevant experience and understanding of health and safety issues

Able to demonstrate, through experience and/or qualifications, an understanding of safeguarding issues and a commitment to safeguarding responsibilities.

Familiar with IT systems, ideally Google Drive and maintaining databases

Knowledge of relevant medical procedures, e.g. management of gastrostomies
