Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join this team at a great SEN School in Haywards Heath to provide essential support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Key Responsibilities:
  • Support students with a range of SEND, including ASD, ADHD, SLD, PMLD, and communication difficulties.
  • Assist the SEN Teacher in delivering tailored lessons and adapting resources to meet individual needs.
  • Work one-on-one or in small groups, providing targeted support to enhance learning and engagement.
  • Help develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs), working closely with the SENCO and wider support team.
  • Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment that encourages student independence and confidence.
  • Use effective differentiation and behavior management strategies to support students' emotional and social development.
  • Support students with personal care and mobility needs (if required).
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs in a school or specialist setting.
  • Understanding of SEND strategies, including differentiation, behavior management, and alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton).
  • A patient, caring, and proactive approach to supporting students with additional needs.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with staff, parents, and external professionals.
Desirable:
  • Additional training or qualifications in SEND, Autism, Speech and Language, or Mental Health.
  • Experience working with EHCPs (Education, Health, and Care Plans).
  • Training in de-escalation techniques (e.g., Team Teach, MAPA).
