To help Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils with special needs learn, the school is seeking to hire a dedicated and trustworthy SEN teaching assistant. The Primary School is dedicated to providing high-quality education to all of its students. It is renowned for providing a secure, joyful atmosphere and a good learning environment. In order to empower children with special needs to succeed, the school offers exceptional support, both emotionally and academically. The position is full-time and temporary, with the vision of becoming permanent the right candidate.

About the role:

The school are seeking a dedicated individual, with a genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs. The right candidate will have the ability to empathise with students as well as effectively communicate with them. This role is to support children in Key Stage 1 and 2 to develop their academic skills in the classroom. Needs include, but are not limited to: ASC, ADHD, and ADD.

The candidate:

  • Level 2 or 3 certificate in supporting teaching and learning in schools (not essential) / or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Empathetic and supportive attitude recognising the unique challenges faced by SEN students
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the individual needs of students
  • Providing individual and group support, helping the children engage in classroom activities
  • Managing challenging behaviour and supporting positive behaviour in the classroom
