Lead Draughtsperson

We are seeking a dedicated Lead Draughtsperson to ensure the delivery of compliant, high-quality detail designs and to support our continuous drive for excellence and innovation in all drafting activities.

The day-to-day activities

  • Check and approve design definition models and manufacturing drawings, ensuring quality and consistency across all outputs.  This includes fabricated assemblies, structural supports, sheet metal and similar heavier engineering "products".
  • Manage subcontracted detail design from a technical perspective to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Utilise correct information for producing design definitions, such as design intent and standards.
  • Guarantee that Product Definition meets the criteria of Fit, Form, and Function.
  • Perform duties of a Lead Mechanical Draughtsperson, including capability management of drafting resources.
  • Provide support and advice to other business members regarding task planning and drawings, promoting value engineering and cost reduction at all levels.

What You'll Need in Your Locker

  • Proven experience in drafting and detail design within a relevant engineering industry.
  • Sound understanding and experience of utilising SolidWorks and associated systems. 
  • Strong technical knowledge and ability to manage subcontracted design effectively.
  • Familiarity with design standards and ensuring compliance with company procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and initiative to identify and implement design improvements.
  • Effective communication skills to serve as the principal point of contact for external drafting resources and technical queries.
