Accounts Assistant

We are seeking an Accounts Assistant to join our team. the role involves supporting the Director of Finance in managing the daily operations of various accounting functions, including general ledger, purchase ledger, sales ledger, fixed asset, and cashiering. Additionally, you will assist in producing management account information and support the annual audit process.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Manage daily accounting operations, ensuring accurate posting of purchase invoices and expenses, and timely payment processing.
  • Raise monthly invoices for care home residents using the Coolcare system and handle account queries from residents and their carers.
  • Maintain aged debtors and creditors, ensuring invoices are receipted and paid according to terms.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with local authorities and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations and assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
  • Manage the general ledger and accounting system daily operations.
  • Set up payments on the online banking system and process cash receipts and payments accurately on the Sage system.
  • Distribute monthly credit card statements to holders and process expenditure analysis.
  • Support the Director of Finance with year-end processes and liaise with auditors during the annual audit.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Part Qualified CIMA/ACCA or full AAT qualification.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to create lookups, pivot tables, and use advanced formulas.
  • Strong interpersonal and people management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and self-motivation.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Capable of working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Experience working in a charity or care home accounts department is desirable.
