Title: Design Manager
Location: East Sussex
Salary: 50-60,000 + car allowance or company car + bonus + package

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Design Manager to join an experienced team responsible for delivering a large portfolio of highways projects across East Sussex.

The Design Manager will be responsible for overseeing all design work on a major long term seven-year contract. They will lead the design programme, collaborating with project managers, contracts managers, and designers to ensure seamless delivery.

Duties

  • Lead the design programme, collaborating with project managers, team leads, and designers to ensure seamless delivery.
  • Ensure designs comply with the Construction Design & Management Regulations 2015 and meet industry standards.
  • Review design outputs to mitigate liability risks while ensuring they are fit for purpose.
  • Assess and approve fee proposals, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
  • Drive adherence to client agreements and KPIs, achieving financial targets and ensuring profitability.
  • Build and manage key relationships with stakeholders, addressing challenges swiftly and effectively.


Candidate

  • Extensive design management experience in highways design and civil engineering.
  • Strong people management skills with a proven track record of driving team performance.
  • Confident communicator and influencer, comfortable working within cross-functional teams.
  • Fully PC literate (Word, Excel) with a valid UK driving license.
