Morson Talent is recruiting a highly experienced **Senior Quantity Surveyor (QS) for a leading contractor in Brighton. This exciting opportunity offers you the chance to play a key role in delivering vital infrastructure improvements for the council.
### Project Overview:
The project involves extensive highways, civil engineering, and landscaping works between Palace Parade Pier and Marlborough Street.

The scope includes:
- 1.2 km of new and realigned carriageways
- Major signalised junctions
- Paved footways, cycleways, parking & loading bays
- New tree installations, lighting, signage, and public space enhancements
This 76-week project is being delivered under the NEC4 ECC Option C contract, with a focus on Target Cost with Z Clauses. The project is currently in delivery, with a completion date set for 30 June 2026.
### Role Requirements:
We are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor with significant experience in **NEC3/NEC4** contracts, particularly **Option C (Target Cost)**, **Option E (Cost Reimbursement)**, and **Option B (Measurement)**. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 15-20 years of Quantity Surveying experience and a proven track record of delivering complex infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for managing the commercial side of the project, including risk management, commercial administration, and stakeholder coordination. You will also need to work closely with both the client (BHCC) and subcontractors to ensure the successful financial delivery of the project.
### Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Change Control and Commercial Administration in line with the contract timelines.
- Manage Early Warning Notifications (EWN) and Compensation Event (CE) notifications, updating relevant registers.
- Organise and attend Risk Reduction Meetings, ensuring effective communication and follow-ups.
- Provide commercial advice to the operations team and proactively identify and mitigate commercial risks.
- Prepare and submit Monthly Applications for Payment (AFP) to the Client, ensuring accurate invoicing.
- Coordinate with Finance to ensure timely and accurate invoice processing.
- Develop and submit monthly cash flow forecasts in alignment with contractual requirements.
- Work collaboratively with the Client, Subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution.
- Oversee Subcontract Management, including joint measurements, reviewing AFPs, and ensuring timely payments.
### Essential Experience & Skills:
- 15-20 years of experience in Quantity Surveying, with a strong background in managing large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Expertise in NEC3/NEC4 contracts, specifically Option C, Option E, and Option B.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage the commercial aspects of a project.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders.
- Proactive in identifying risks and providing solutions.
- Strong commercial awareness and a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
