Pay £12.50 - £14 Per Hour

We are looking for a passionate and skilled Teaching Assistant to join our team, supporting primary school-aged pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviour. This role is set to begin in January 2025 and will focus on working with children who may be performing below age-related expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils with SEMH needs, focusing on those who present with challenging behaviour.

- Assist in creating a nurturing, supportive, and structured learning environment, helping pupils manage their emotions and behaviour effectively.

- Implement individualized support plans, working closely with class teachers, SENCO, and other staff to ensure that the needs of each pupil are fully met.

- Help pupils engage positively with learning activities, fostering resilience, self-esteem, and social skills.

- Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour, using appropriate strategies to support pupils in regulating their emotions.

- Collaborate in the planning and delivery of interventions and activities tailored to pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs.

- Monitor and record pupil progress, sharing updates with teaching staff, SENCO, and parents as required.

Requirements:

- Experience supporting pupils or adults with SEMH needs, including managing challenging behaviour in a school or care setting.

- A good understanding of strategies for working with children who are below age-related expectations.

- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.

- Patience, empathy, and resilience, with the ability to remain calm and effective in challenging situations.

- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all pupils.

Desirable:

- Additional training or experience in behaviour management, SEMH interventions, or SEND.

- Experience working with pupils on the SEND register, particularly those with complex needs.
