Based in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, our prestigious UK-wide client is seeking a Senior Purchase Ledger Clerk to join them on a permanent basis, based on site 5 days per week.

This job would suit someone with at least 3 years' experience in a purchase ledger role and looking for that next step to progress into a senior. You will be responsible for your own set of accounts whilst also supporting the accounts team with meeting strict deadlines and general administrative support,

The successful individual will be an experienced purchase ledger clerk with excellent organisational skills, confident in their abilities, pro active and a real urge to progress and develop. Knowledge of MS Office programs, excel, Word and Outlook, is a must for this role. NetSuite experience would be ideal, but not essential.

Job responsibilities:

  • Actively manage a portfolio of supplier accounts.
  • Process, verify, and pay supplier invoices accurately.
  • Conduct phone and email correspondence with managers and suppliers.
  • Negotiate credits as needed, address discrepancies in invoices, and raise relevant queries.
  • Resolve inquiries with suppliers, department managers, and other internal contacts.
  • Address and clear accounts that are on hold.
  • Reconcile supplier accounts against supplier statements.
  • Prepare payments for timely inclusion in weekly/monthly BACS runs.
  • Provide holiday cover for the purchase ledger manager, ensuring the team meets all deadlines.
  • Assist with handling open and unconfirmed purchase orders.
  • Collaborate within the team, offering support as needed.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Help the team with the new system NetSuite implementation
