My client who operate within the Civil and Structural Engineering sector as well as the Geotechnical and Infrastructure are looking for an experienced Structural Engineer in their office in Hemel Hampstead. This highly reputable consultancy is renowned throughout the UK and offers fantastic training and support as well as an excellent benefit and welling package.

The Ideal Structural Engineer will be degree qualified in a course that is recognised be IStructE as well as having at least 4 years PGE and progressing towards Chartered Status of the IStructE. The Structural engineer will have extensive construction industry experience as well as knowledge of large framed structure within the residential, commercial and education sectors. It is essential that the Structural Engineer has an in-depth understanding of superstructure, foundation and geotechnical design, using Tekla and an understanding of BIM.

Structural Engineer Position Overview

  • Work on a wide range of interesting projects
  • Mentor and help junior engineers and technicians
  • Prepare an outline brief, visit site, review information including planning history and services
  • See project through from inception to completion
  • Prepare technical details for Architectural design and prepare technical specifications
  • Liaise and attend meetings with Architects, clients, subcontractors and other professionals
  • Represent the business, in a professional and courteous way
  • Assessing the sustainability and environmental impact of projects
  • Making sure the project complies with statutory requirements
  • Complying to Health and Safety and CDM regs

Structural Engineer Position Requirements

  • Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering
  • Working towards Chartered status
  • Minimum of 4 years'+ post-qualification experience in structural design
  • Capability to prepare structural designs in all conventional materials
  • Experience in refurbishment projects
  • Have a global view of structural design on a project, identifying potential problems and solutions and providing advice to clients on design options
  • Talent to prepare schematic structural designs based on basic architectural layouts
  • An ability to write clear and concise e-mails, letters and reports
