Our client, a notable player in the power utilities sector, is currently seeking a Civils Estimator to join their team in a permanent role. This position will focus on supporting the pre-construction phase of projects within the power distribution and energy sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to analyse bid specifications, drawings, and project documents
  • Conduct detailed quantity take-offs from engineering drawings to determine necessary materials, labour, and equipment for projects
  • Prepare estimates from first principles, ensuring alignment with client expectations
  • Work with subcontractors to secure competitive pricing for materials and services
  • Identify potential risks and uncertainties, propose mitigation strategies, and communicate findings
  • Attend tender-stage site visits to gather information affecting bids and highlight specific challenges
Job Requirements:
  • Demonstrable experience as an Estimator in the construction industry
  • Strong background in estimating Power, Electricals, Renewable, and Civils projects
  • Working knowledge of NEC3, NEC4, and FIDIC contracts
  • Proficient in construction estimating software and advanced Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Attention to detail and ability to interpret complex project specifications and drawings
  • UK driving licence
