Senior Town Planner
Location: Bourne End, Buckinghamshire
Salary: Competitive, plus bonus scheme + car allowance
Job Type: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
Flexible Working: 3 days office-based, 2 days remote. Flexible start/finish hours

A well-established and highly regarded Town Planning and Heritage Consultancy is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Town Planner to join their team. With a proven track record in securing planning permissions, they operate across a broad range of sectors including commercial and residential development. Their clients include major hotel and restaurant chains, housebuilders, land promoters, healthcare providers, retailers, and public sector organisations.
Role Overview:
This is a fantastic opportunity for a planning professional looking to progress their career within a supportive and dynamic consultancy. The successful candidate will manage planning projects from inception through to decision, provide expert planning advice, and collaborate closely with both clients and colleagues to deliver high-quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide clear, expert planning advice in line with current legislation and policy
Manage a range of planning applications, appeals, and development proposals
Prepare planning appraisals, statements, and supporting documentation
Represent clients at planning committees, meetings, and public consultations
Liaise with local authorities, stakeholders, and other professionals to guide projects effectively
Contribute to the development of the team and offer support to junior staff where appropriate
Assist with business development by nurturing client relationships and identifying new opportunities
Key Skills & Experience:
Chartered Member of the RTPI (or working towards chartered status)
Degree in Planning or a closely related field
Substantial experience in a town planning consultancy or similar environment (typically 3-5+ years)
Solid knowledge of UK planning legislation, the NPPF, and relevant guidance
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Confident in managing planning applications and appeals
Proactive approach to problem-solving and stakeholder engagement
Ability to manage multiple projects while working collaboratively within a team
