1.1 Position Purpose:

To assist in the provision of transaction processing services.

1.2 Level Descriptor:

Roles in this level carry out a range of defined core administrative, operational and/or technical activities within a section or department. They work independently whilst reacting to changing circumstances. Roles at this level will provide a range of straightforward, routine services often as part of a team engaged in similar activities. They involve responding to routine queries, issues or circumstances, and referring any unusual or non routine situations to others.

  1. Position Accountabilities:
  1. Process work in line with agreed procedures, business rules or scripts - Processing work could include dealing with queries received via emails and replying as appropriate, taking messages.
  2. Processing transactions/Applications via an Optical Character Recognition (OCR) system.
  3. Learn the procedures and understand parameters of producing a quality output.
  4. Process work to the defined level of quality.
  5. Resolve queries and escalate as necessary (i.e. a team leader/manager/other group) and log if appropriate.
  6. To schedule and prioritise allocated work on a daily basis.
  7. Distribute information and when required, work to the other team members or groups.
  8. Identify and suggest areas of improvement.
  9. Maintain and update information held on a data base or manually.
  10. Support line management on any additional admin when required.
  11. Liaise with internal/external clients.
  12. Print/post data/reports/invoices daily.
  13. Maintain records for audit purposes.
  14. Ensure deadlines are met.
  15. Cash handling, payment reconciliation.
  1. Position Specifications (Knowledge, Skill and Experience):
  1. This is often an entry point role for many operational staff, usually at an early stage in their working life.
  2. The role will rend to focus on a very structured and well-defined scope of work. The key requirement is to execute assigned tasks promptly and accurately and build a track record of same.
  3. Their Process Leader will be looking for signs that the incumbent can not only achieve this track record, but that the individual shows signs of challenging existing processes in an appropriate manner.
  4. The role holder will usually be part of a team performing similar tasks for the same client.
  5. Performance parameters will be established indicating target performance, influenced by the complexities of the tasks/needs of the client, within which the role holder would be expected to perform. For a newcomer, the targets will be lower than for more established role holders, for whom a series of performance levels will have been determined; performance standards that are continually below a specified level will be the subject of remedial actions.
