Are you looking for your next career move and have a passion to progress your career in a Mechanical Mobile role If so, then I have a rare opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join a large process business based in the Hemel Hempstead area. They have been established for over 50 years and have provided process consultancy services to some of the most recognised companies in the Oil & Gas field. The position is remote covering sites in the South East area. The position offers Door to Door payments, no call out, Time and Half paid over a standard 40 hour week or double time after 10am. No weekend work will be required. Core hours Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm, Additional bonus scheme of up to 12%, Private Medical Insurance, Pension Contribution up to 12%, Life Cover, 28 days holiday + Bank Holidays and more.

Responsibilities:

The Mechanical Engineer will ensure the integrity of mechanical systems by adhering to company and statutory requirements while promptly addressing breakdowns. Oversee and enhance a system for implementing and recording maintenance and inspections of plant and equipment at designated locations. Perform additional maintenance and operational tasks on COMAH Top Tier and Lower Tier storage terminals and pipeline systems operated by the client.

  • Attain and maintain competency to be authorised to work on high-pressure systems transporting flammable substances within DSEAR / ATEX legal requirements and company standards.
  • Complete maintenance, testing and adjustments on mechanical systems including equipment covered by the Pressure System Safety Regulations (PSSR) and critical to Process Safety Management considering COMAH Regulations.
  • Attain and maintain competency as an authorised person to work on mechanical systems including responsibility to produce and implement mechanical isolations.
  • Complete and supervise maintenance, fault finding and repair on all Mechanical Systems within operational sites. Systems include high-pressure pipework, high-pressure multi-stage pumps, PSSR equipment, bulk storage tanks, actuation systems, oily water separation / treatment systems, fiscal metering, level gauging, security.
  • Complete fault finding on systems within competency limits including 24/7 breakdown response.
  • Operating Authority responsibilities under the clients permit to work system including supervision of colleagues and contractors in safe systems of work, including preparation of risk assessments, work procedures, issuing mechanical isolation certificates and gas test certificates This includes working with 3rd party site operator systems as required to obtain necessary work permits. This includes deputising as Operating Authority when required.

Requirements:

  • A recognised professional qualification in a relevant mechanical discipline to NVQ level 3 or equivalent standard or extensive demonstrable experience in lieu of this.
  • Experience in the Oil & Gas or working on COMAH sites would be highly advantageous.
  • Awareness of fundamental Health and Safety practices in the workplace.
  • Experience of maintenance, Root cause fault analysis and ability to work under pressure and respond to emergency situations including dealing with emergency services and statutory bodies.
  • Experienced Mechanical Engineer, Service Engineer or Mechanical Maintenance Engineer will all be considered for this opportunity
  • Full Driving Licence.

In return the Mechanical Engineer will receive the following salary and benefits package

  • Basic Salary Circa to £35k to £40k with an OTE circa to £55k to £60k
