Contek are working with a dynamic and rapidly growing manufacturing firm based in Gloucester, manufacturing small batch/low volume products for the manufacture of special purpose machinery, within the Construction industry.

Position Overview CNC/CAM Production Engineerwill play a vital role in providing technical, operational and production support for future growth by supporting production senior CNC machinist, CAD designer, and technical team, learning from the team and at the same time providing technical expertise in machining technical expertise in machining, CNC programming, CAM, and helping the team deliver high quality products and exceptional customer service. This role requires a hands-on approach, as well as the ability to read technical drawings, produce CNC programs, or using Mastercam to produce machining programs offline. You should be able to effectively communicate technical specifications, machine set ups and if required help other machinists to set up and prove out jobs. The role requires a proactive, adaptable approach, working collaboratively within a small team environment. This role is a new role where the necessary training will be given, including Mastercam (and Solid Edge if required in the future).
But the key to this job is assisting the team in increasing the company’s overall output to match the growing demand, learning and be mentored by senior team members to pick up the knowledge to be able to produce the parts required in the future.
Some of the other tasks you may carry out from time to time are:
- Purchasing of materials and tools
- Estimating machine cycle times and costing
- Machine Maintenance
- Inspection
- Discussing with customers the solutions to their requirements.
- Help with production planning and feedback to customers
- Representative on the CNC/CAM Forum (Monthly meeting)

Skills & Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 3 qualification or higher in a technical subject preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical related role, preferably within the machinery or manufacturing industry.
- Proficiency in reading technical drawings and specifications is essential.
- Confident in producing parts and checking they are to drawing.
- Methodical approach to work maintaining accuracy at all times.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to estimate costs and prepare quotations.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to colleagues and sometimes to customers.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a small team environment.
- Adaptable and flexible with a positive attitude towards challenges and change.
- Proficiency CNC machine programming and offline CAM programming.
- Microsoft Office Suite of products, excel, word, outlook (email).
Hours of Work and Benefits:
- 7:30am – 4:00pm Mon-Thu, 7:30am – 3:00pm Fri. (Total 39 hours)
- Overtime available when workload dictates.
- Holiday is 25 days plus 8 statutory days.
- Starting rate of pay £20.50/hr during 3 months probation.
- Rate of pay on successful completion of probation £21.00/hr
