Robertson Bell are supporting a Housing Provider based in Hereford in their search for a Rent and Service Charge Accountant - on a permanent contract.

This is a hybrid role that offers accessibility by car and onsite parking as well as public transportation close by. On average, you’ll be required to be in the office once a week, though this may vary depending on business needs.

The Rent and Service Charge Accountant will be responsible for:

  • Setting and managing rent and service charge budgets, ensuring these are in line with organisational objectives and industry standards.
  • Reviewing actual rent and service charge figures, analysing variances against budgets, and accounting for discrepancies.
  • Working closely with internal teams to provide financial insights and advice, supporting the business in the management of service charges and rent setting.
  • Reviewing contracts and leases to ensure service charges and rent calculations are correct, providing clear guidance and resolving any issues.
  • Collaborating with auditors to ensure smooth year-end processes and that all required documentation is readily available.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A strong background in rent and service charge accounting, ideally within the social housing sector, though candidates with experience in the private property sector will also be considered.
  • Proven experience of setting budgets for rents and service charges, reviewing actuals, and accounting for variations.
  • Strong Excel skills, including manipulating and analysing data outside of the finance system.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
