Role Overview:As the Principal Ecologist, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing ecological assessments, advising on biodiversity, and ensuring environmental compliance. You will work closely with the planning and development teams to guide sustainable ecological practices and make a real difference in protecting Herefordshire’s natural environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead ecological assessments and habitat surveys.
  • Provide expert ecological advice to council teams and stakeholders.
  • Oversee the integration of biodiversity measures within planning and development projects.
  • Ensure adherence to environmental legislation and best practices.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in ecology, ideally with experience in a senior or principal role.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK biodiversity legislation and policies.
  • Strong communication and project management skills.
