We are currently recruiting for a permanent Multi-Skilled Engineer to join a well-established client based in Hereford.

Our client is a busy manufacturing company, and they are looking to add new members to their team.

Contract: Permanent

Shifts:
Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts rotating through Early, Day, and Afternoon shifts.
40 hours a week

Salary: £18.03 per hour

The main purpose of this role is to maintain, repair, and improve various equipment, systems, and facilities within the organisation. This position requires expertise in multiple engineering disciplines, including electrical, mechanical, and sometimes even software or HVAC systems.

Responsibilities and Activities

Maintenance & Repair:

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on machinery, equipment, and systems.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system faults.
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns and minimise downtime through efficient repairs.

Installation & Commissioning:

  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment and systems.
  • Ensure that installations meet operational and safety standards.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement engineering solutions to enhance efficiency and reliability.
  • Participate in root cause analysis for recurring issues and develop long-term solutions.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and modifications.
  • Prepare reports on equipment performance, downtime, and maintenance costs.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure all maintenance activities are performed in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure that work practices adhere to safety protocols.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with production, operations, and other departments to minimise disruptions and optimise equipment performance.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other team members.

Essential Skill Requirements

  • 3+ years of industrial electrical experience.
  • Proven experience in a multi-skilled engineering role within a manufacturing, industrial, or similar environment.

Skills & Abilities

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Confidence in using a range of IT software, including regular use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently while also being an effective team player.
  • Ability to write clear and concise evidence-based reports.
