Charge Hand/Team Leader (Grounds Maintenance Supervisor)

We are seeking a Grounds Maintenance Supervisor to join a dynamic team. This role involves supervising a team of grounds maintenance operatives, ensuring the delivery of high-quality gardening services, and acting as the first point of contact for supervision and advice.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Carry out gardening duties and supervise grounds maintenance tasks across multiple sites in Worcester and Hereford.
  • Coordinate and manage the team, setting targets and ensuring completion of works.
  • Conduct inspections to monitor the standard of work and provide feedback.
  • Maintain communication with teams and management to ensure performance aligns with set standards.
  • Liaise with tradespeople and other agencies regarding work in various locations.
  • Respond to emergencies as required and ensure all work is effectively supervised.
  • Assist with planning and delivery of the grounds maintenance service, including training and development of staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, particularly relating to Health & Safety, Customer Involvement, Equality and Diversity, and Safeguarding.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • GCSEs or equivalent qualifications.
  • Experience in gardening and grounds maintenance.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role, ideally within a service delivery environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage relationships with teams and clients effectively.
  • Proficiency in basic Health and Safety, particularly in the use of gardening equipment.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including Bank holidays, weekends, and out of hours as needed.
  • Full driving licence and willingness to drive a company vehicle.
