Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Hereford / Mon - Thursday 08:30 - 05:00pm / Friday 08:30 - 03:00pm

If so, we want to hear from you!In this role, you will be at the forefront of developing and implementing cutting-edge manufacturing processes for our product lines. You will lead the design and analysis of mechanical systems integration, ensuring seamless functionality and high-quality production. Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of manufacturing processes for the Group product lines.
- Design and analyze mechanical systems integration for manufactured parts, enclosures, and products.
- Assist engineers and business development staff with platform system integration for projects and products.
- Translate company ideas and proposals into practical design solutions.
- Conduct critical design calculations for equipment selection to meet project specifications.
- Select appropriate manufacturing solutions, systems, and materials for cost-effective and efficient production.
- Develop and maintain strong material selection knowledge, considering tensile strength, environmental, and electrical/RF properties.
- Build and nurture relationships with manufacturing and design houses, companies, research centers, and academia to stay technologically and commercially relevant.
- Ensure manufacturing solutions are lean, fit for purpose, timely, and cost-effective.
- Analyze products for legislative conformity (CE/UKCA compliance) and engage with compliance houses for testing and analysis.
- Implement and maintain all designs, processes, and procedures in accordance with Spectra's ISO9001:2015 management system.
Skills and Qualifications:
- A professionally accredited relevant engineering qualification (HNC, HND, BEng) with relevant experience.
- In-depth knowledge and experience with CAD software (Solidworks preferred) and manufacturing software solutions (Autodesk, Materialise, etc.) for additive and subtractive manufacturing.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be a UK National and able to obtain Security Clearance (SC) vetting
