My client are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join their maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of hydraulic systems, PLC-controlled machinery, and other mechanical equipment. This role requires strong diagnostic skills and the ability to perform planned preventive maintenance (PPM) to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine and reactive maintenance on hydraulic systems and PLC-controlled equipment.
- Perform fault finding and diagnostics on mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Implement and follow Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) schedules.
- Carry out mechanical repairs, replacements, and upgrades to machinery.
- Read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company maintenance standards.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Identify and recommend improvements to increase equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Provide support for machinery installations, commissioning, and modifications.
- Supervision and training of two maintenance engineers.
- HNC/HND, or apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., hydraulics, PLC programming, or mechanical maintenance) are an advantage.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment.
- Proven experience in mechanical maintenance and fault finding.
- Good understanding of hydraulic systems.
- Experience working with PLC-controlled machinery
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Use of CAD software to create and modify technical drawings
- Familiarity with PPM strategies and maintenance best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with welding and fabrication (desirable but not essential).
- Understanding of health & safety regulations in an industrial setting.
- Good communication skills and ability to work within a team.
- £35,000- £45,000 DOE
- Pension scheme - employer contribution 5% of salary
- Holidays 28 days, plus an additional day of holiday per year of service up 3 years, additional 5 days after 4 years' service, additional 7 days after 5 years' service.
