The Role:

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a critical role in our project's financial management and success. Your expertise in cost control, procurement, and contract management will be essential in maintaining project profitability and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management: Prepare monthly cost value comparison reports for 3-4 projects. Monitor cash flows and forecast project financials.
  • Procurement: Negotiate packages to achieve tender budgets and improve project margins. Oversee sub-contract procurement, from pre-orders to final agreements.
  • Valuations and Payments: Issue valuations to strict deadlines, assess variations promptly, and manage payment processes for sub-contractors.
  • Contract Management: Manage external correspondence, including variations. Execute collateral warranties and track administration.
  • Project Reporting: Provide monthly analysis of risks and opportunities within live projects. Prepare and submit extension of time requests and detailed project reports.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Communicate effectively with clients, professional teams, and sub-contractors. Attend progress and design team meetings.
  • Team Development: Train and develop junior surveyors, sharing work experiences and best practices. Represent the company at industry events and awards.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in quantity surveying for a general main contractor.
  • Relevant construction qualification (HNC/HND or degree).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction methods, materials, and best practices.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage detailed project programmes and cost control.
  • Experience with contract terms, collateral warranties, and statutory services procurement.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, MS Project, and RedSkyIT (preferred).
  • Full UK driving licence (essential).
