Herefordshire Council is looking for a passionate and dedicated Children in Care Social Worker to join our Children & Young People in Care Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine impact on the lives of children and young people, working closely with a supportive and collaborative team. You will play a key role in ensuring the voice of the child is always heard and that the best outcomes are achieved for every young person in our care.

Responsibilities:As a Children in Care Social Worker, your responsibilities will include:

  • Case Management: Managing a caseload of children and young people in care, ensuring their safety, well-being, and stability.
  • Support & Advocacy: Building strong, trusting relationships with children, families, and carers to advocate for their needs and ensure their voices are heard in all decision-making processes.
  • Multi-Disciplinary Collaboration: Working alongside colleagues from various professions, including health and education, to deliver tailored care plans.
  • Safeguarding: Ensuring that all statutory responsibilities are met, with a focus on child protection and improving the quality of life for children in care.
  • Professional Development: Engaging in training and development opportunities to continuously improve your practice and support your career growth.

Requirements:

  • Holds a degree in Social Work and is registered with Social Work England.
  • Has experience working with children and families, particularly in care settings.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication, assessment, and advocacy skills.
  • Enhanced DBS
  • Access to own car
