An experienced Chef de Partie / Sous Chef is needed to join our team at The Curious Cat, a leading traditional Country Pub based in Herne Common on a full-time basis.

The Curious Cat is a small but mighty family-run business proud to have earned an excellent reputation. Our kitchen is well-equipped and organised and boasts a 5-star hygiene rating.

The selected candidate must be able to work 45-50 hours per week and maintain good personal hygiene.

You can earn cash tips averaging £50-£80 per week.

About Us

The Curious Cat is a traditional Country Pub located in a beautiful part of Kent, between Herne Bay and Canterbury. Previously known as The First & Last, it was acquired in September 2019, completely refurbished by the new owners, and given a new, quirky name.

A cosy place for a delicious meal or a quick drink, The Curious Cat offers a broad variety of freshly prepared food, a great choice of beer, wine, gin, and expertly crafted cocktails. It's all you need to escape the stresses of everyday life!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing salads, sauces, side dishes, starters, and desserts
  • Maintaining high standards of food preparation and presentation
  • Provide assistance to the Head Chef in all aspects of running the kitchen
  • Helping with the management of kitchen inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment
  • Assisting in the planning and creation of menus
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations in the kitchen
  • Well-organised and with the ability to work well under pressure

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of working with fresh ingredients
  • Experience in cooking fresh fish, meat and vegetables
