We are seeking a dedicated Senior Support Worker to assist in leading our team at a Residential Children's Home. This role is pivotal in supporting the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager to uphold the organisation's mission and values, ensuring high-quality care and outcomes for the children and young people in our care.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Support and manage the staff team to enable them to meet the needs of the children and young people effectively.
  • Undertake direct work with children and young people, acting as an appropriate role model.
  • Plan and allocate resources for each shift, ensuring smooth operation and adherence to the home's Statement of Purpose.
  • Work in partnership with other professionals to achieve optimum outcomes for young people.
  • Offer supervision and support to staff, aligning with Quality Standards and directives from management.
  • Manage staff responsibilities, ensuring adherence to the home’s policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Assist in the recruitment, training, and retention of staff, including conducting inductions and appraisals.
  • Develop and maintain systems for effective resource allocation and financial management within the home.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Secondary Education with a good standard of literacy and numeracy.
  • Diploma Level 3 in Residential Childcare or equivalent.
  • Preferably at least 12 months of relevant supervisory experience and experience working in a residential setting with challenging behaviour.
  • Strong knowledge of the Children Act and other relevant legislation.
  • Excellent team building, supervision, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Understanding the needs of looked-after children, including managing challenging behaviour.
