Commercial Operations Manager

  • 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday (35 hours)
  • 20 days plus bank holidays (After one year service increases to 25 days plus bank holidays)
  • £42,000 to £45,000 per annum

Company & Job Purpose

My client are a market leader in their field, excelling in sustainable waste management and the production of waste derived fuels. Due to continual growth they are looking to add a hard working and ambitious individual to the team asCommercial Operations Manager.

Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will have the responsibility of coordinating the commercial and risk aspects of the business. You will also coordinate with the Operations Manager on any issues that may arise.

The role will involve financial improvements to the current operational provision and commercial support for new business bids and opportunities.

Ideally you will have a good working knowledge of the waste and/or haulage industry.

Key tasks

  • Maintain working relationships with hauliers with regular visits and updates
  • Search and onboard new suppliers, negotiating pricing
  • Scrutinise any price increases and ensure the best price is reached for the business
  • Pricing for any new deals or tenders as required
  • Monitor existing contracts to ensure profitability is retained throughout contract life, and suggest/implement improvements or fixes where needed
  • To assist Operations Team with any contractual issues that may arise, and to be a point of escalation with suppliers
  • To work closely with the team to source and be innovative in setting up new and improved logistics solutions
  • To carry out risk assessments and mitigate any risk to the business of supply routes
  • To work closely with the team to identify and develop opportunities for profitable growth
  • To work closely with the Directors to identify and exploit potential opportunities in the market
  • Spot related commercial opportunities and react quickly and in the companys best interests when necessary
  • Supporting senior management team with projects and ad hoc tasks

Experience of pricing management.
