Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • To provide high quality Podiatry care for patients in a range of recognised clinical settings including single and multi-chair community clinics and acute outpatient multi-disciplinary clinics

  • Develop treatment plans in conjunction with patients.

  • To assess, diagnose and implement care programmes without direct supervision for a wide variety of patients within the service criteria using high quality evidenced based clinical expertise.

  • To provide nail surgery under local anaesthesia.

  • To request, perform and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests.

  • To identify the need for referral both internally and externally for further assessments and treatment where appropriate.

  • To record all patient contact using the SystmOne computer based record keeping tool.

  • To maintain a safe working environment by following departmental and HCT guidance pertaining to infection control, medical devices, information governance and safeguarding and escalating concerns via incident reporting appropriately.

  • To provide foot health education to patients, their relatives and carers within the E&N Podiatry Service and within the wider HCT services as required to empower individuals and their families to reach their full potential.

  • To participate in reflective supervision.

  • To monitor and maintain stock levels at clinics where appropriate.

  • To be responsible and accountable for maintaining a high level of clinical competence and identifying personal or professional development requirements to maintain registration with HCPC and to keep abreast of new developments in the field of podiatry.

  • To provide supervision for Podiatry Students and Apprentices as directed.

  • To line manage lower grade staff as directed

  • To communicate effectively and foster close working relationships with other colleagues in partner organisations, external organisations and other services and colleagues within HCT in relation to their service.

  • To comply and practice within minimum standards of the College of Podiatry, HCPC code of conduct, Trust clinical standards, guidelines, policies, procedures and protocols.

  • To be responsible and accountable for completing all mandatory training.

  • To undertake any other duties in any location across Hertfordshire in accordance with the grade of the post and competence requested by the Podiatry Assistant Operational Lead.




Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent in podiatry
  • HCPC Registration within Podiatry
  • Post registration podiatry experience in Diabetes Care
  • Demonstrate good organisation skills and ability to create accurate care plans
  • Certificate of Local Anaesthesia
  • Driving Licence and access of car
