They are seeking a Senior Design Manager to maintain an overview of all aspects relating to design and BIM of a project/projects
Report on the status of design on a monthly basis
To support the Project Manager with managing all aspects relating to design for a particular project(s)
To add value to the project(s) by promoting ‘best value’ design solutions
To portray a professional and responsible image of the company to the clients, their colleagues and contractors Ensure compliance against Contract requirements
To be part of the ‘Bid Team’ delivering value engineering options, operation delivery solutions, preliminary input and bid document information
To promote Health Safety and Quality to the projects and through the tender process To develop and maintain the design programme and other design controls.
The design manager will provide support to the ‘Bid Manager’ with ‘Value Engineering’ options for the tender submission on operational delivery solutions and alternative design solutions
highlight additional surveys that may be required.
comment on the status of the design of all the consultants in writing and delivering sections of the bid document
contributing to the compilation of the Risk Register and schedule of Qualifications/Clarifications in tender consultant selection and consultant duties, preparation of appointment documentation in ensuring that the tender information is handed over to the project team in an effective manner in attending client interviews as requested
PRE-CONSTRUCTION:
The Senior Design Manager will support the Project Manager/ Senior Site Manager/ Project Surveyor with sub-contract procurement by advising on design interfaces, buildability and Value Engineering
in producing and monitoring the BIM Execution Plan (BEP) Information Required Schedule (MIRS)
in producing and monitoring the project design programme
in the ‘Design Approval Process’ including technical submissions and written approvals
Develop the design programme and other design control tools
The Senior Design Manager will support the Project Manager/ Senior Site Manager
the Design team appointments are executed in line with VFL’s timescales
the design team deliver the Design Information in line with VFL’s timescales
the timely distribution of design information to the supply chainÂ
Planning requirements and Local authority requirements
Monitor changes to any aspect of the design and liaise with the project
PM&QS to establish the impact these might have and contractual stance with the Client/supply chain
responsible of reviewing ‘design management’ documentation and ensuring its correct use and development when required
correct specifications and drawing requirements are issued to the consultants and sub-contractors in accordance with the target programmeÂ
the project design is delivered in accordance with the programme with chairing project design team meetings, producing minutes and issuing
in advising on buildability and design interfaces of different trades
in identifying specific training needs from the project design
Monitor the design programme and other design controls
the company design procedures are adhered to.
Raise Non Conformance Reports on issues relating to design matters
The Design Manager will support the Project Manager/ Senior Site Manager in project de-briefings
 in reviewing the design solutions used during construction to verify suitability
 to monitor the defects period for ‘Value Engineering‘ options performance
Attend the project close out audit as required
The Senior Design Manager is responsible for promoting the department to prospective and existing clients, colleagues and contractors
For carrying out periodic Health and Safety checks on site
