Assistant Quantity Surveyor- Hertfordshire

Our client is an established contractor with extensive operations in Ireland, UK, and Europe. Due to a full order book across all regions, our client is now looking for a dedicated Assistant Quantity Surveyor with notableexperience in Utility/Civils projects. As Assistant Quantity Surveyor you will be assisting with cost estimation, budget preparation, contract administration, and financial reporting collaborating closely with senior quantity surveyors, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate cost management and efficient project delivery.

Key Responsibilities & Requirements:

  • Support the commercial team in preparing detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including tenders, variations/valuations, & final accounts.

  • Contribute to developing project budgets and cost plans under senior quantity surveyors' supervision.

  • Collaborate with project teams to track cost, monitor variances, and identify cost- saving opportunities without affecting quality.

  • Assist Senior Quantity Surveyor with the preparation of reports.

  • Assist in conducting quantity takeoffs and measurements from drawings and specifications to determine the quantities materials, labour and equipment required for construction activities.

  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to discussions on cost management, procurement, and project progress.

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying.

  • Previous experience in Quantity Surveying roles with focus on Utility/Civils projects.

  • Good understanding of commercial construction methods and best practices.

  • Strong negotiation, analytical skills, and attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in Quantity Surveying software and relevant tools.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
