Salary: 38,000 - 50,000 Dependant on experience

Job Summary
The Designer / Draughtsman is responsible for producing precise, high-quality 2D drawings and 3D models following established standards. This includes creating 2D layouts, 3D plant models, Plant P&IDs, and fabrication drawings in both metric and imperial formats, under the guidance of the Designer/Manager.
Key Responsibilities
In addition to fulfilling the responsibilities of a Designer Level I, the Designer II will:
- Develop 2D layouts, PFDs (from templates), foundation drawings, and conveyor systems using AutoCAD with minimal supervision.
- Create 3D models, including steelwork and equipment, using AutoCAD and Plant software.
- Make significant modifications to arrangement and detail drawings, understanding factors affecting Extractor and DTDC design.
- Collaborate with Process Engineers to create intelligent P&IDs using Plant software, adding valve, instrument, and line data.
- Interpret code requirements that may impact vessel construction.
- Provide mentorship to Level I Designers, reviewing their work as needed.
- Take a lead role in design input for single-process greenfield projects.
- Develop an in-depth knowledge of group equipment to enable accurate layouts and associated details.
- Undertake occasional UK and overseas travel for site visits and collaboration.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum HNC in Mechanical Engineering with a design focus.
- Strong expertise in 2D and 3D design using AutoCAD.
- Working knowledge of 3D piping software and NavisWorks.
- Solid understanding of engineering practices and procedures.
- Basic knowledge of piping systems, materials, and routing principles.
- Proficiency in:
- Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and File Explorer
- Process Flow Diagram and P&ID creation from templates
- Layout drafting and design
- Vessel and machinery drafting and design
- Fabrication and detail drafting and design
- Ability to self-organise and manage multiple projects, directed by a Level III Designer or Designer/Manager.
- Excellent command of spoken and written English.
- Effective communication skills for engaging with sub-contractors, suppliers, and design facilities.
- High standards of integrity, ethics, and respect for intellectual property.
Preferred Experience
- Practical experience using Autodesk Inventor.
- Familiarity with Vault Professional client software.
