Consortium are pleased to be representing a leading, innovative manufacturing company who are investing heavily in growth. Based in East Yorkshire and a good commutable distance from Hull, the company is looking to recruit a Purchasing Manager to join their well-established Operations department. About the Role:The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for ensuring KPI targets are being met, in line with cost, delivery, and safety targets. As the Purchasing Manager, your duties will include:  

  • Perform regular reviews of the company’s existing supplier base, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to improve performance and quality.
  • Identify cost savings opportunities with current and new suppliers  without compromising on quality.
  • Assess international supply risks as well as associated business costs and take appropriate decisions.
  • Source sustainable supply options and innovative solutions, working with the suppliers to consider environmental impact.
  • Attend relevant exhibitions to stay up to date in the market
  • Negotiate supply terms and build robust relationships with suppliers.
  • Continuously monitor stock levels and analyse trends to prepare material requirement forecasts.  
  • Raise Purchase Orders and RFQs using SAP
  • Prepare and manage departmental budget and report on performance.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders in NPD, sales, production, quality, and finance
  About you:
  • 5 years+ experience of purchasing at a strategic level within manufacturing
  • MCIPS or related degree would be preferred but not essential
  • Previous experience of using SAP or similar MRP system
  • Excellent negotiation and analytical skills 
  • Dynamic and forward-thinking nature with ability to problem solve and build relationships
  • Good commercial acumen
