KCR Solutions are delighted to be working with this fantastic organisation in their search for a Finance Officer. This is a Fixed Term contract until March 2026.

To work as part of the Finance team, effectively using new technology, to ensure that all financial information is processed efficiently and accurately in order that the accounting systems provide the information required by managers and the Authority in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Operation of the financial systems in accordance with legal, audit and management requirements. Specific lead areas will vary between Finance Officers, but team support through knowledge and practice in non-lead areas is expected.
  • Management accounts reporting
  • Assist in compilation of annual accounts and responding to audit queries.
  • Assist in the compilation of the annual budget.
  • Bank reconciliation
  • Budget monitoring
  • Processing payroll
  • Processing purchase invoicesSupplier statement reconciliations
  • Credit card payments
  • Dealing with the debtors ledger
  • Petty cash
  • Insurance administration
  • Vehicle administration
  • Tendering
  • Monitor and maintain financial records relating to externally grant-aided and internal projects - keeping accurate records to ensure deadlines for submission are met, income received and drawdown fulfils all requirements.
  • Assist in the implementation of new systems as required.
  • Proactively support the promotion of equality and inclusion in all areas of work

Support/Advocacy/General duties

  • Advise in the areas of budgets, financial regulations and procedures
  • As part of a team, support a culture which fosters innovation, creativity, open communication and collaboration throughout the Authority
  • Liaise with external agencies and contacts (auditors, Customs and Revenue, funders, bank, etc)
  • Any other duties consistent with the nature, level and grade of the post as may be assigned by the Finance Manager or Head of Department.

Person Specification

  • Qualification with Association of Accounting Technicians (or equivalent) or significant experience working in an accounts discipline
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to develop financial spreadsheets
  • Substantial experience in using a computerised accounts system
  • Substantial experience in operating financial ledgers
  • Experience of preparing and monitoring of budgets and preparation of year end accounts

As an individual you will have a methodical approach and have the ability to work in a team environment. You will also have the ability to travel to sites to fulfil the requirements of the post.

This position will be based at Hexham with option for some hybrid working
