We have a fantastic opportunity for a Qualified Joiner at Rochdale Council, this is a full-time temporary role for the next 3 months with the possibility of extension.

What is the role?

Rochdale Council are looking for a Qualified Joiner, to join the Managed Property Services (MPS) Team, as they are recruiting for a Joiner to be part of a reactive and planned maintenance team providing a high quality building maintenance service to the customers of Rochdale Borough Council. You will be required to carry out various joinery installations and repairs, within set timescales, to a manner that demonstrates a high regard for customer care, and a high standard of workmanship, efficiency and compliance with customer / contract requirements. 

What are your responsibilities?

  • Ensure all Joinery works undertaken, including but not inclusive of first fix, second fix, structural and bespoke joinery, within the control of the operative, is carried out in a proper manner and in accordance with the required standards and legislation.
  • To do associated works in line with the skillset of the individual, to a high standard, such as, but not inclusive of the installation, replacement or repair of glazing units, fascia’s, soffits, guttering and suspended ceilings.
  • To undertake internal works to a high standard, such as, but not inclusive of the installation, replacement or repair of kitchen units, windows, doors, staircases and various flooring types.
  • Undertake external works to a high standard, such as, but not inclusive of the installation, replacement or repair of fencing, decking and external composite/PVC door sets.
  • To undertake FRA works to a high standard, such as, but not inclusive of the installation, replacement or repair of fire door sets in accordance with the required standards and legislation.
  • To carry out reactive and planned works throughout the Borough of Rochdale, in both a domestic and commercial setting, on a wide variety of building types and premises.
  • Occasionally undertake works in potentially higher risk environments and properties.
  • Carry out works in association with the councils Home Improvement Agency (HIA).
  • To undertake any additional tasks that are within the remit, and/or skillset, of the existing role.
  • Undertake the pre - measurement of jobs, for the purpose of ordering materials, and assisting Team Leaders with quotations.
  • Work with the MPS team leaders to ensure a high quality service is provided at all times.
  • Work on an individual basis, using own initiative and with minimal supervision, following the councils lone working procedures.
  • Work alongside other trades to carry out larger projects, ensuring safe systems of work are followed at all times.

What skills do you Need?

  • Must have recent experience of working as a Qualified Joiner
  • You must have gained relevant vocational qualifications (e.g. City & Guilds) in this area of expertise and be able to demonstrate a vast work experience across the trade.
  • Must be physically fit and healthy, as you will be working outside and may need to lift heavy items.
  • Excellent people skills, as you will be speaking to the public, other members of staff and managers.
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Valid Enhanced DBS on the update service
  • Full knowledge of all health and safely legislations
