Science Technician Vacancy - Secondary School in Heywood (Rochdale)

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Science Technician to join our secondary school in Heywood, Rochdale. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong understanding of laboratory procedures and a commitment to ensuring the smooth operation of science lessons.

  • Position: Science Technician
  • Location: Heywood, Rochdale
  • Hours: Monday to Friday
  • Salary: Up to £110 per day
  • Contract: Ongoing with potential for permanent placement for the right candidate

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, organize, and maintain equipment and materials for science lessons
  • Support science teachers during practical sessions and experiments
  • Ensure that all health and safety guidelines are followed, including compliance with COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations
  • Maintain and clean laboratory spaces, ensuring they meet safety standards
  • Assist with stock management, including ordering and organizing resources
  • Support students during practical lessons, providing guidance when needed

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience working as a Science Technician, preferably in a secondary school setting
  • Full understanding and practical application of COSHH regulations
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
