TeaherActive is excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our SEND school in the beautiful rural village of Chinley, located in the northwest corner of Derbyshire. Our school provides specialized education to children and young adults with a range of complex needs, including PMLD, communication difficulties, and behaviour linked to learning disabilities.
About the Role:As a Teaching Assistant at our school, you’ll work alongside a supportive team to help create a safe, engaging, and stimulating learning environment for our pupils. You’ll play a vital role in assisting with their personal, social, and educational development, tailoring your approach to meet the individual needs of each student.
You will support the delivery of structured learning plans, contribute to the management of challenging behaviour, and promote positive communication and engagement. This is a rewarding and dynamic role where no two days are the same, and your contributions will directly impact the lives of students with profound learning needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the delivery of tailored educational activities and learning programmes for students with PMLD and communication difficulties.
- Provide personal care and support to students where needed, promoting independence while ensuring safety and well-being.
- Help manage challenging behaviour with a calm and consistent approach, using positive reinforcement and effective strategies.
- Support the class teacher in creating a stimulating and inclusive learning environment, adjusting resources and materials to meet the diverse needs of the students.
- Build strong, supportive relationships with students, helping to develop their social, emotional, and communication skills.
- Collaborate with other staff members and contribute to the development of individual student plans.
- Maintain high standards of conduct, professionalism, and respect in all interactions with students, colleagues, and parents.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with children or young adults with special educational needs, particularly those with PMLD, communication difficulties, or complex behaviours.
- A patient, compassionate, and adaptable approach to working with students with diverse needs.
