Are you passionate about supporting children from vulnerable & challenging backgrounds?

We are recruiting for a Primary Teaching Assistant for a Alternative Education Provision School for children with challenging behaviours in the High Peak area.

Role - Primary Teaching Assistant for learning & behaviour support at alternative education provision in the High Peak area.

Times - Monday to Friday 8:30am-4:15pm.

Contract - Start 6th January 2025, full time & long term.

Expected to go permanent for the right person.

Pay - Up to £105/day for first 12 weeks, equal pay to perm staff in same role from 13th week. Paid PAYE via Tradewind, we don't use Umbrella companies!

The School & Pupils

  • Alternative Education Provision for young people aged 7-16 with Social, Emotional or Mental Health needs (SEMH).
  • All students have an EHCP for SEMH, ADHD, Autism or SpLD.
  • All students working at lower levels than expected for their age.
  • Class sizes of no more than 10 pupils including TA support.
  • Long standing & supportive management.
  • Students are grouped by similar needs and levels rather than by age.
  • Collaborative teamwork atmosphere.
  • Welcoming and inclusive environment.
  • Up to date de-escalation or restraint training such as Team Teach or MAPA would be a big plus.
  • You MUST be a driver for this role and prepared to get business insurance to use your car for work purposes when required.

  • Manage challenging behaviour and emotions.
  • Working collaboratively with other Teaching Assistants, management, parents and outside agencies.

  • Have an enhanced DBS certificate that is on the Update Service (or be happy to pay for a new one).
  • Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable).
  • Minimum of two professional references checks.

  • Have the legal right to work in the UK.
  • Some experience supporting children with special needs.
