The Role:

So, what will you be doing as a Quality Engineer?

  • Lead investigations arising from quality issues, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and implementing solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure corrective and preventive actions from audits are effectively followed up and completed.
  • Collect, analyse, and maintain quality performance metrics, reporting findings across the business.
  • Act as a key interface with customers and government quality representatives regarding audits, corrective actions, acceptance testing, and other quality matters.
  • Develop and maintain quality plans, procedures, and schedules to ensure optimum compliance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain high-quality standards throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Provide guidance on quality procedures and best practices to project teams.
  • Support external quality audits, customer visits, and authority assessments.
  • Represent the Quality function at program meetings and reviews, reporting on quality trends and issues.
  • Assist with the certification of product release documentation.
  • Generate First Article Reports (FARs) and support customer verification activities.
  • Facilitate concession applications and engineering change requests.
  • Participate in Engineering Design Reviews, Contract Reviews, and New Business Proposal launches.
  • Promote a culture of quality awareness and continuous improvement, including process mapping and lean methodologies.
  • Ensure departmental objectives align with overall business goals.

What are we looking for in our next Quality Engineer?

  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Experience in a Quality Engineering role within a regulated industry (defence, aerospace, maritime, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems (QMS), auditing, and compliance standards.
  • Proven ability to conduct root cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Experience with customer and supplier engagement, particularly in quality-related discussions and audits.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data-driven quality performance reporting.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
