Role Details

The role of the Drivers Mate is to contribute to achieving service levels of 99%+ for our customers serviced by nightshift routes.

Support the Class 2 Driver with vehicle checks, unloading and delivery while ensuring compliance with safety legislation and company procedures.

Ensure all that Credit, Infringement KPIs are met and POD is evidenced/signed for.

Some responsibilities of the role include:

  • Demonstrate a positive, customer-focused, and professional approach.
  • Contribute to a diverse, inclusive, solutions-oriented, and customer service focussed culture.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and deliver an awesome customer experience to both internal and external customers.
  • Examine the vehicle before setting off, to check the load is safe.
  • Organise the load in the vehicle, taking account of the delivery order and making sure that items are easily accessible.
  • Maintain effective communication with the nightshift management and delivery teams to ensure customer expectations can be proactively managed and that priority drops always reach their destination when challenges arise.
  • Update customer records to ensure that useful information is available to drivers covering allocated routes (e.g what three words) for delivery points.
  • Check all items are accounted for against delivery sheets.
  • Unload goods at the delivery point.
  • Obtain delivery evidence/signatures from customers and support the accurate completion of all documentation (VC40, Temperature Records, Debrief).
  • Ensure all Keys are checked in and out.
  • To support Drivers in carrying out all daily checks and vehicle cleaning.
  • To promote the company and do everything possible to enhance the companys image through appearance and behaviour.
  • Maintain vehicle appearance in line with company policies.
  • Other duties as required including supporting the warehouse with administration, picking and loading.
  • Demonstrate commitment to and support our Environmental, Social and Governance goals in how daily tasks and responsibilities are carried out.
  • To disclose any evidence of product safety, legality, quality, or integrity issues.
  • To report all accidents and promote best practices in Health and Safety and contribute to ensuring a safe working environment for all employees, workers, and visitors on site.
The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • Good IT & administration skills
  • Numeracy, and a good level of English.
  • Customer Service Focus and good communication skills.
  • A good team player, with attention to detail and good problem-solving skills that follows processes in place and prioritises business improvement.
  • Friendly positive attitude.
  • Physically fit, able to lift heavy items and manage roll cages on rough terrain.

Desirable

  • Desire to learn new skills, progress into an HGV Driver career and obtain a class 2 Licence.
  • Experience in a physically challenging role.
  • Full U.K Driving Licence.
