The Role:

So, what will you be doing as a Senior In-Service Support Engineer?

  • Support the delivery of In-Service support commitments in collaboration with the Project Manager, Engineering Lead, System Design Authority, and customers.
  • Ensure support project strategies align with Defence Standards and relevant contractual policies.
  • Respond proactively to technical issues, customer fault reports, and technical queries.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to develop commercially and technically viable solutions.
  • Manage system performance, conduct root cause analysis, and drive improvements in service delivery.
  • Lead inspections, preventative maintenance programmes, and equipment defect investigations.
  • Ensure customer equipment remains safe for continued service.
  • Oversee Integrated Logistics Support documentation and manage change requests.
  • Address resource conflicts, plan engineering tasks, and estimate project costs.
  • Foster engineering excellence and promote continuous improvement within the team.
  • Implement obsolescence strategies for supported products.

What are we looking for in our next Senior In-Service Support Engineer?

  • Bachelor's degree or higher diploma in Management, Asset Management, Logistics, Engineering, Science, or related fields (experience may substitute for formal qualifications).
  • Significant experience in Defence engineering, logistics, or as a senior engineer during the In-Service phase of the lifecycle.
  • Proven leadership and management in the latter stages of the CADMID/T cycle.
  • Experience in planning and executing support tasks for engineering projects.
  • Familiarity with engineering project management principles (e.g., work packages, risk management).
  • Proven track record of working under pressure and delivering in challenging environments.
  • Maritime equipment experience is a plus.
