The Role:
So, what will you be doing as a Principal ILS Engineer?
- Lead ILS activities across multiple systems, tailoring the scope to meet customer and project requirements.
- Collaborate with design teams to enhance the reliability, maintainability, and usability of Ultra's designs.
- Develop and deliver optimal support solutions aligned with product and capability roadmaps.
- Conduct detailed analyses, including:
- Life Cycle Cost Analysis
- Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
- Level of Repair Analysis (LORA)
- Reliability Block Diagrams (RBDs) and Fault Tree Analyses (FTAs)
- Drive the development of supportability cases and technical manuals, such as troubleshooting guides and operations/maintenance documentation.
- Formulate obsolescence strategies for product lines and support hazard mitigation through system hazard analysis.
- Continuously improve processes, policies, and procedures to enhance operational effectiveness.
What are we looking for in our next Principal ILS Engineer?
- A bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent technical/military experience in mechanical, electrical, or related fields.
- Robust knowledge and experience in:
- Reliability & Maintainability (e.g., RBDs, FMECAs, MTAs, FRACAS/DRACAS).
- Integrated Logistics Support (e.g., LCC, LORA, obsolescence strategies).
- Operational Analysis & Whole Life Cost Modelling (e.g., COIEAs, Availability Trade-Off Analysis).
- Training Development, Design, and Delivery.
- Proficiency with tools like PTC Windchill, Isograph, or similar modelling software (preferred).
- Security Clearance (SC) or eligibility to achieve SC, with no caveats.
- A full UK driving license, with occasional travel required across Ultra sites and to customer and supplier locations.
