This is an education setting based in High Wycombe that requires an assistant grounds person to join their team in a maintenance capacity. The hours will be full time Monday to Friday 8am-5pm with 1 hour for lunch.

You will be instructed by and responsible to the Head Groundsman.

Main duties:

  • To assist in the preparation and maintenance of the school's sports pitches, courts and lawns including line marking and mowing, and the erection and dismantling of sports equipment
  • To use and assist in the maintenance of the Grounds tools and equipment including ride-on mowers, tractors, strimmers, hedge cutters, and a wide variety of manual tools
  • To assist in general gardening and grounds maintenance duties including cultivation, digging, mulching, watering, raking, weeding, edging, pruning, bed preparation and planting
  • To assist in ensuring that the school's grounds are kept clean, tidy and a safe environment including clearance of litter, leaves and snow
  • To assist in keeping the Grounds Department areas are kept clean and tidy including the garage, equipment stores and greenhouses
  • To assist with other school tasks when required including traffic and car parking duties on certain occasions, and moving chairs, benches and any other items required for major occasions.

General responsibilities:

  • To observe safe working practices at all times, comply with the school's health and safety requirements and report any faulty equipment or hazards to the Head Groundsman without delay
  • To wear the required uniform and to keep it clean and maintain high standards of personal hygiene

The Assistant Grounds person will be expected to work 40 hours per week, for 8 hours per day for 5 days. 0800-1700 hours daily. Lunch will be provided during term time.
