Role Overview: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with special educational needs and a commitment to supporting their educational and emotional development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEND, adapting learning materials to meet individual needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support the monitoring of student progress.
  • Work closely with teachers and other professionals to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Help manage classroom behavior and ensure a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment for all students.
  • Support students with personal care needs, where necessary.
  • Assist with administrative tasks and the preparation of learning materials.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and other professional development opportunities.

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience working with children with special educational needs, preferably within a PRU or similar setting.
  • A patient, compassionate, and resilient approach to working with children with complex needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the varying needs of students.
  • Basic understanding of safeguarding principles and a commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Relevant qualifications in education or childcare (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, CACHE Level 3).
  • Knowledge of specific learning difficulties and strategies to support students with SEND.
  • Experience with behavior management techniques.
