The Role:

So, what will you be doing as a Buyer?

  • Purchase goods and services according to specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.
  • Maintain accurate MRP data, including part information, supplier lead-times, and evaluations.
  • Ensure a continuous supply of required materials and promptly address any supply risks or issues.
  • Manage supplier order books, expediting and prioritising orders to ensure materials/services are available for production.
  • Conduct supplier assessments and performance reviews, implementing improvement strategies where necessary.
  • Support on-time, in-full delivery of materials and services to align with project milestones.
  • Monitor market trends, research opportunities for cost reduction, and identify new supply sources.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Production, Quality Assurance, Programmes) to enhance product/service quality.
  • Handle defective material returns, procuring replacements with minimal impact on project timelines.
  • Contribute to procurement strategies aimed at improving efficiency, reducing costs, and adding business value.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual conditions, including flow-downs where required.
  • Support the procurement department in meeting its objectives and KPIs.

What are we looking for in our next Buyer?

  • Proven experience in direct procurement within a regulated environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organisation.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (IFS preferred).
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel and reporting software.
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of self-motivation and initiative.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
