We are looking for an experienced Purchasing Assistant to join our client, an award winning manufacturing company based in High Wycombe.

The role will require the successful candidate to work as part of the Supply Chain Team to source and purchase materials both locally and from overseas with consideration to stock levels, lead times, budgetary values and storage space. SAGE MRP is currently being introduced and utilising this system daily will be a key part of the role.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a proven track record of at least three years in procurement supported by formal higher education. This education may have been achieved full time within a university environment or completed via formal training courses whilst working. Managing processes, systems and people to ensure goods are received, dispatched and productivity targets met are essential elements of the role.

The ideal candidate would be educated to degree level in a relevant discipline. Extensive training and support will be provided.

Duties include

  • Sourcing and purchasing materials, goods, and services required by the organisation including negotiation of terms
  • Creation of purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies
  • Maintaining positive relationships with suppliers by effective communication and timely resolution of any issues
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure on-time deliveries and quality standards are met
  • Analyse procurement data to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities and areas for improvement
  • Prepare reports and presentations based on procurement analytics
  • Identify and suggest process improvements to streamline procurement operations and enhance efficiency
  • Participate in meetings and provide updates on procurement activities

Skills/Experience

  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Numerate with strong attention to detail and an ability to analyse and interpret data
  • Very good communication both written and verbal
  • Ability to develop relationships with suppliers and internal teams
  • Driven for results
  • Understands the essential importance of customers
  • Proficient with SAGE or an equivalent procurement software system
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with a high level of ability in Excel
