The Role:

So, what will you be doing as a Senior Buyer?

  • Lead and provide operational direction to the Buyer team, promoting continuous improvement.
  • Execute procurement processes, including RFPs, negotiations, and cost analyses independently.
  • Anticipate and mitigate potential delivery delays, conducting root cause analyses and developing recovery plans to meet customer requirements.
  • Manage all procurement activities, from intent to purchase through to delivery.
  • Analyse requirements, including preliminary specifications and preferred supplier options.
  • Conduct competitive tendering to ensure best value and cost savings.
  • Issue RFQs and POs in line with company procedures and standards.
  • Implement compliant purchase contracts adhering to company and government regulations.
  • Provide Purchasing KPIs and be accountable for team performance.
  • Ensure timely issuance of purchase orders, maintaining alignment with program requirements.
  • Maintain accurate data for Quality, Price, and Lead times in ERP systems.
  • Investigate potential suppliers to verify compliance with specifications and requirements.
  • Ensure a fully qualified Approved Suppliers list in the ERP system.
  • Advise team members or management on appropriate supplier selections.
  • Negotiate costs to achieve optimal quality and schedule requirements.
  • Ensure material is delivered on schedule, meeting negotiated costs and quality standards.
  • Maintain timely control of orders, amendments, and shipping documentation.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality Assurance, and Programmes teams to maximize product and service quality.
  • Perform other procurement-related duties as assigned.

What are we looking for in our next Senior Buyer?

  • Proven experience in a procurement, supply chain, or purchasing role.
  • Preferred qualification in Business, Commerce, or Procurement.
  • Experience in the aerospace or manufacturing industry, ideally within supply chain or procurement for an aerospace/defence company.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and government contracts.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and leadership skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation in past roles or projects.
