Main Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, well-structured lessons to students across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, ensuring that all students are challenged and supported.
- Act as a tutor to a group of students, monitoring their academic progress and supporting their personal development.
- Collaborate with the school community to foster a positive learning environment and communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents.
Key Teaching and Learning Duties:
- Teach according to the school timetable using a variety of teaching methods to ensure lessons are stimulating, inclusive, and in line with best practices.
- Assess student progress through regular evaluations, including homework, class participation, and formal assessments, and maintain accurate records in the school database.
- Work with Learning Support Assistants and Technicians to provide a supportive environment tailored to individual learning needs.
- Attend parent evenings and staff meetings, sharing updates on student progress as required.
Tutoring Responsibilities:
- Monitor and support the academic journey of each student in the tutor group, ensuring high standards in conduct, uniform, and attendance.
- Serve as the main point of contact for parents, providing updates and addressing any concerns regarding students in the tutor group.
- Encourage students' participation in school activities, including extracurricular clubs and the school's House System.
General Duties:
- Uphold the school's performance management and self-evaluation processes.
- Adhere to school policies and contribute to the school's broader goals, including those set out in the School Development Plan.
- Participate in supervisory duties and ensure a safe learning environment for all students.
Person Specification:
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in a relevant subject area.
- Recognized teaching qualification (DfE).
- Strong subject knowledge and an up-to-date understanding of effective teaching practices.
- Proficiency in using ICT to enhance learning.
Desirable Experience:
- Familiarity with school self-evaluation processes.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
