We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Social Science to lead our department. This role is ideal for someone passionate about education and has a proven track record of excellence in teaching and leadership.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide leadership for the development and management of teaching within the Social Science area.
  • Identify areas for development and improvement linked to the Academy improvement plan, SEF, national, and local initiatives.
  • Develop and monitor schemes of work for Social Science across the academy in liaison with your department, ensuring successful implementation that meets curriculum requirements and is differentiated to reflect student needs.
  • Oversee and contribute to the planning and delivery of continuous professional development and training related to Social Science.
  • Foster a positive learning environment that encourages student engagement and success.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in delivering outstanding teaching and learning.
  • Successful mentoring and coaching of colleagues.
  • Strong ability to plan, prepare, and deliver a curriculum relevant to the age and ability of the groups.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
