An international automotive brand, with HQ based in the UK East Midlands, requires a Subject Matter Expert to lead the evolution of powertrain design and manufacture.

The SME will support all phases of the design and development process to ensure robustness of design, thus preventing quality issues. This historic brand continues to add more power, lower emissions, improve fuel efficiency and create better refinement. This commitment applies to developing Powertrains that satisfy the performance needs of customers whilst meeting environmental regulations.

This position would suit an engineer with a high level of skill and experience in a range of Powertrain component and system areas. You must be a proven problem solver with a pragmatic attitude who can progress efficiently through issues, concluding in robust solutions. You are an organised and methodical engineer who ensures Powertrain processes and procedures are updated as required, ensuring that all vehicle teams have the best resources.

Key deliverables include;

* Ensuring a consistent approach to Powertrain design via close co-ordination with senior stakeholders and all vehicle teams.

* Coach and mentor engineers to broaden the level of understanding within the department.

* Provide continuous improvement to advance design procedures, best practice and efficiency improvements.

* Review and approve procedures, technical reports, specifications and drawings.

* Support new technology investigations as required.


We expect a degree in a mechanical engineering subject, proficiency across MS packages and an exceptional level of skill and experience in a range of Powertrain component and system areas.
