If you're excited about contributing to the future of nuclear power, we want you on our team.The Radiation Protection Technician will play a critical role in supporting NNB's oversight and assurance activities for work involving ionising radiation at the HPC construction site. A key aspect of this role will be assisting in the preparation and execution of industrial radiography on-site. This includes managing radioactive sources and equipment stored in a central store, ensuring radiography areas meet the required safety standards, and conducting routine radiation monitoring around the radioactive source store and the radiography area barriers.Radiological protection technicians will be integral to the independent oversight, supervision, and monitoring of radiography, helping to minimize risks to workers and avoid delays to the construction schedule. Due to the nature of radiography work, the role requires flexibility, with frequent work in the evenings, nights, and weekends. You will also collaborate with contractors to ensure the safe and timely completion of tasks.Role Responsibilities ï‚·Confirm that radiography barriers are erected according to the approved plan, and ensure all necessary equipment is in place, operational, calibrated, and pre-use checked. ï‚·Perform radiation monitoring at the barriers during exposures to ensure the safety and proper positioning of barriers.Upon completion of work, verify that all sources and equipment have been safely removed from the area. ï‚·Use the site's Permit to Work system to control and manage tasks. ï‚·Generate compliance records to ensure documentation is up to date. ï‚·Conduct monitoring in support of radiological incidents when required.ssential Qualifications and Skills ï‚·GCSE grade C or equivalent in Maths and English. ï‚·City & Guilds in Radiation Protection Grade I or equivalent. ï‚·Experience as a qualified Radiation Protection Technician / Health Physics Monitor. ï‚·In-depth knowledge of the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 (IRR17) as it applies to this role. ï‚·Competent in IT usage. ï‚·Strong record-keeping and compliance with work instructions. ï‚·Demonstrable knowledge of IRR2017 to be eligible for appointment as a Radiation Protection Supervisor.
